Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Nairobi to Ol Pejeta Conservancy.

Your safari begins with an early morning pickup from your Nairobi hotel or JKIA around 7:30 AM. You meet your private driver-guide and depart for Ol Pejeta Conservancy, a scenic 3.5 to 4.5-hour drive north through the central highlands with views of Mount Kenya. En route, you stop at the equator for a photo.

You arrive at your lodge in time for lunch. After checking in, you'll embark on your first afternoon game drive across this 90,000-acre private conservancy. Ol Pejeta is home to the Big Five and boasts the largest black rhino population in East Africa. You visit the Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary —the only place in Kenya to see chimpanzees—where rescued orphans are rehabilitated. You'll also have the chance to meet Najin and Fatu, the last two northern white rhinos on Earth, and feed Baraka, a blind black rhino.

Optional evening visit to the Morani Information Centre to learn about rhino conservation. You return to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 2: Ol Pejeta to Lake Naivasha

You rise early for a pre-breakfast game drive (around 6:00 AM) when predators are most active—great for lions, cheetahs, and wild dog sightings. You return to the lodge for breakfast, check out, and depart for Lake Naivasha.

The drive takes approximately 4-5 hours through the scenic central highlands. En route, you'll stop at Thomson’s Falls in Nyahururu—a 74-meter waterfall on the Ewaso Ng’iro River. You'll continue your journey, crossing the equator again before descending into the Great Rift Valley.

You arrive at your lakeside lodge in time for lunch. In the afternoon, you'll enjoy a boat safari on Lake Naivasha, getting up close to hippo families, watching fish eagles dive for prey, and observing pelicans, cormorants, and herons. The boat will take you to Crescent Island Game Sanctuary for a walking safari among giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, and impalas—an experience that brings you closer to wildlife than any vehicle can.
You return to your lodge for dinner overlooking the lake.

Day 3: Lake Naivasha to Masai Mara National Reserve.

You will enjoy a leisurely breakfast with views of the lake, then check out and depart for the world-famous Maasai Mara National Reserve. The drive takes approximately 3.5 to 4.5 hours (approximately 193-232 km) through the Great Rift Valley, passing through Maasai country and the town of Narok.

You arrive at your lodge or camp in time for lunch. After checking in and resting, you will head out for your first Mara game drive around 4:00 PM. The Mara’s endless plains teem with wildlife—expect to see elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, and possibly lions, cheetahs, or leopards. The reserve boasts the highest density of wildlife in the region, including all of the Big Five.

You return to your lodge as the sun sets over the savannah. You'll enjoy dinner and an overnight stay.
Accommodation: Ol Moran Tented Camp

Drive Time: 3.5 – 4.5 hours (Naivasha to Mara)
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Key Experiences: Afternoon game drive, first taste of the Mara.

Day 4: Full-Day in Masai Mara National Reserve.

Big Five Search, River Crossings & Optional Balloon Safari

Today is the highlight of your safari. You have two options:
Full-day game drive with a picnic lunch
You rise early for a sunrise game drive (around 6:30 AM)—the best time to see predators returning from a night hunt or beginning their morning patrols. You return to the lodge for breakfast, then head out for a full day of exploration with a packed picnic lunch. Your guide will search for the Big Five—lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhino—as well as cheetahs, hyenas, giraffes, hippos, and countless antelope species.

If visiting between July and October, you’ll head towards the Mara River to witness the dramatic wildebeest crossings—one of nature’s greatest spectacles. You enjoy your picnic lunch at a scenic spot, perhaps at a hippo pool, watching these massive creatures. You continue your exploration through the afternoon, maximizing wildlife sightings.

Day 5: Masai Mara to Nairobi

You'll enjoy one final early morning game drive (6:30-9:30 AM) for last wildlife sightings and photography in the golden morning light. This is often the most rewarding time as animals are active and fresh. You will return to the lodge for breakfast, check out, and begin the scenic drive back to Nairobi (approximately 5-6 hours).

You’ll arrive in Nairobi by mid-afternoon and be dropped off at your hotel or Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) for onward travel, marking the end of your memorable Kenyan safari.
